Complete Hypothesis Practice
~Determine the independent variable and dependent variable for each scientific question. 

~Write a hypothesis in the proper format: Give relationship statement and prediction 

    

EXAMPLE: 
Question- How will amount of light affect plant growth?
IV = amount of light
DV = plant growth

Hypothesis: If amount of light affects plant growth, then the more light plants receive the more they will grow (or the taller they will grow).

• IF  + (IV or DV) + connecting word* + (IV or DV)
• THEN (IV or DV with quantitative prediction**) will cause (IV or DV with quantitative prediction) 

* = could include words like: causes, affects, impacts, has on affect on, is affect by, etc)

** = must use words that a quantitative such as raises, lowers, increases, decreases, etc
